Welcome

This blog will focus on activities in Trinidad and Tobago that kids can enjoy. I'm a mother of a 9 year old boy Matthew, who is focused too much on video games and YouTube reviews of Minecraft that I began seeking alternate choices for him to spend his time.

Finding new activities beside the regular football and cricket camps was a challenge. I would search newspapers for possible advertisements on what was offered and frequently that turned up empty. Most recent I was surprised to learn that Trinidad offered Archery Classes in south. My interactions with other parents provided that flow of creative exchange on what our kids were into and what they could try. That was my best source since websites were outdated and you had to know something exists before you could find them on Facebook.

After much thought I felt that one location for all activities would be the most helpful to all the busy moms out there (and yes dads too), who desperately try to balance work, home, family and most of all their sanity!

The aim of this blog is to identify the exciting alternatives to video games to involve our kids in. I hope you enjoy my upcoming posts as much as I will enjoy putting them together. Take some time to read our journey as we explore new things within our shores', and let me know if you are looking for anything in particular....

  1. Hey this is so true...Trindad actually has a young archers club in central. finding activities other than sports is a challenge in TnT for kids. Some kids are introverted and sports may not be their thing.
Looking forward to reading more :)

  2. I agree with what was stated above there must be some alternatives from the video games and competitive sports to more leisure or fun activities. The archery club is a good idea, there is also for those adventurous ones there is the HikeNation club which involves people of all ages so that you can explore all what Trinidad has offer.

  3. It is indeed a fact that kids today need to get involved in outdoor activities such as, fishing club, horse riding club and even a bicycle club. These activities will also help with some form of exercise for these kids help to be more active and all round.

  4. This is a brilliant idea. As a parent of four, I am concerned that today's children are deprived of fun physical activities.
Maybe with this help my son will spend more time outdoors. And less time on the iPad.

  6. Great idea for busy parents to get advise and feedback on what Kiddie activities are available in Trinidad. Children nowadays spend too much time on video games,IPads, cell phones and tv...that they have become too inactive and sometimes lack socialization skills in the real world vs the technological world. So it would be great to hear about the wide range of children activities that are available in Trinidad that most of us may not know about.

  7. I totally agree technology has made and will continue to make humans more dependent on them for every simple task. Like turning on the lights,TV, adjusting the AC, by simple voice command. Gone are the days of the scouts, the 4h clubs where values, respect for ur elders, enjoyment and appreciation of the environment are taught.

This is a really GREAT idea,I'm a mom of a newborn baby but I have a nephew who to main focus is video games and I don't believe it's his only interest I believe he just has nothing else to challenge him seeing his not the sporty type so I'm staying tune to see what activities there are out there

  13. Great to say that kids are spending too much time on the computer/video games, but as parents we have a responsibility. We need to lead by example..get them involved in outdoor activities but leading the process. make time to put down the cell phone/computer and put on the track shoes/pants and get them on the park.
